Live scanning of human subjects should be permitted only when risk is minimized and there is a medical or public health benefit. The education of health care specialists in the latest ultrasound technologies, their capabilities, and how they are best used by these individuals is a critical exercise for skill development. At the present time, this benefit is very difficult to obtain in any other way, and ultimately benefits future patients.
