To get the most out of your membership, get started on the right foot. Here are a few important steps to take as you begin your AIUM experience.

Log in and explore. To access members-only online content, you must be logged into the website. You’ll need the username and password you used to create your account. If you can’t remember, just hit Forgot Password. 

Complete (or update) your member profile. Once you are logged in, make sure you have a complete profile so we can deliver the content and communications that you’ll find most valuable. Include your credentials, your board certifications, and even your AMA and/or ARDMS numbers. Complete or update your profile today.

Join the discussion. Discover, share, and connect with others through our members-only social network, Connect. Join discussion groups of interest to you and start sharing ideas with your peers.

Look for AIUM newsletters. Shortly after you join, you will begin to receive Sound Waves and JUMpstart, the AIUM’s key members-only newsletters. These newsletters keep you up-to-date and informed of the latest news, research, and information vital to helping you improve patient care.

Opt into membership auto-renewal. Our membership auto-renew feature helps ensure uninterrupted access to your member benefits and tenure. To sign up, add a saved credit card on file and authorize the AIUM to charge your card for automatic payment for membership. You can add, update, and save your credit card to your AIUM account here. You’ll get the most out of your AIUM membership when you get connected to the people, programs, information, and resources that can help get you to the next level.

Connect with other members. It’s easy to connect with your peers through the AIUM’s many online social spaces. Here are a few highlights:

• Connect: Build your network in the AIUM’s members-only social network. Ask questions, share resources, and share your knowledge, experience, and insights.

• LinkedIn: Follow the group to connect with your peers, participate in timely discussions, and build your ultrasound community network.

• Facebook: Interact and share stories on the AIUM page.

• Twitter: Follow @AIUMultrasound and use the hashtags #AIUM, #ultrasound and specific event hashtags to keep up with hot topics and updates in medical ultrasound.

• Instagram: Follow @aiumultrasound for updates, event photos, and sneak peeks at what’s ahead. Don’t forget to share your photos and tag us or use #AIUM.

• YouTube: Case challenges, webinars, and other videos reside on the AIUM’s video channel. Subscribe so you get notified when new content is added.

Explore tools and resources. As a member, you have 24/7 unrestricted access to the AIUM’s full collection of content, tools, and other resources to help you do your job better and help your practice succeed. Take some time to explore:

Explore education. The AIUM’s Online Learning Center is your place for ultrasound education. Webinars, articles, videos, and courses are available to help improve your knowledge and skills. Most of these opportunities include free CME credits for AIUM members.

Visit your association career center. The Ultrasound Career Center is your one-stop shop for career choice and advancement. Find a job, post a job, get career advice, and improve your resume.

Medical ultrasound is a dynamic and ever-changing field. Thus, staying informed and up-to-date is of paramount importance. The AIUM provides a number of member benefits focused on keeping you at the forefront.

• Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine (JUM): Each month, the JUM publishes the latest research, pictorial essays, case studies, and literature reviews. In addition, AIUM members have unlimited access to the entire JUM library.  

• JUMpstart: Every 2 weeks, AIUM members receive an electronic newsletter dedicated to the most recently published articles from the JUM, allowing you to put the latest information into clinical practice sooner.

2. Volunteer. Check out these ways to volunteer:

1. Help with the Annual Meeting. Every year the AIUM relies on volunteers to help as moderators, abstract reviewers, speakers, proctors, models, and more. If you would like to help, please contact learn@aium.org.

3. Each year, half of the AIUM’s Communities of Practice hold elections. To run for office, please contact Cynthia Owens.

3. Blog. Want to share your ultrasound story? Have a strong opinion? Is there an issue we should be discussing? Consider writing a blog post for us to share on The Scan. If interested, contact Cynthia Owens.

4. Submit a Case. Try to stump, and educate your colleagues by submitting a case challenge.
