In view of its multidisciplinary membership, the AIUM regards its role in the legislative arena as threefold:
1. Monitoring legislation and regulatory issues,
2. Keeping members informed about legislation and regulations that could have an impact on ultrasound professionals, and
3. Taking action based on multidisciplinary consensus at the board's discretion.
