This one-day course consists of didactic lectures followed by a hands-on ultrasound experience (live models and simulators). Maternal-Fetal Medicine expert faculty and experienced sonographers will scan live models alongside course participants.
Enhance your educational experience by participating in the AIUM Ultrasound Competency Assessment Add-On, a program designed to provide participants with an opportunity to demonstrate competency through the submission and review of ultrasound images related to course objectives. This add-on is available during registration. At the end of this process, participants will receive a Certificate of Competency in the focus area(s) they practice.
Participants who enroll in the Competency Assessment Add-On will complete an image submission process that includes both a simple pre-course and post-course image submission.
Pre-course images: Initial assessment will include a few image submissions required prior to the start of the course and the participant’s focus area/s. The pre-course requirement is used to review current experience level.
Post-course images: The required images must be submitted within 90 days (3 months) following the conclusion of the course, tailored to each participant’s selected focus area(s). Please note, these additional images will come from different patients than those submitted during the pre-course review.
Participants who do not complete the required submissions within the designated timeframe will not receive*a Certificate of Competency
Image requirements and overall instructions will be emailed after registration is confirmed.
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of fetal biometry, placental location, and a systematic approach to cervical length evaluation.
Discuss imaging parameters for basic fetal anatomy, basic fetal cardiac anatomy, and cardiac variations.
Understand appropriate acquisition for amniotic fluid assessment and fetal antenatal testing (biophysical profile).
This course is designed for physicians, family medicine physicians, obstetricians, gynecologists, radiologists, sonographers, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, and other healthcare professionals interested in basic OB ultrasound.
