General Medicine and Advanced Point-of-Care Ultrasound Course

Thursday, July 16 –Saturday, July 18, 2026

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)

Portland, Oregon  |  Virtual

7:30 am–3:30 pm (PST)  |  10:30 am–6:30 pm (EST)

Course Overview

This dynamic course is perfect for clinicians eager to dive into the world of POCUS and enhance their clinical skills. Offering a comprehensive overview of ultrasound applications in both acute and ambulatory settings, it empowers participants to confidently use ultrasound for evaluating patients with conditions like shortness of breath, abdominal pain, and swollen legs. By the end of this course, you'll not only master the fundamentals of ultrasound operation but also gain hands-on experience with live scanning on models. Led by experts in the field, this course combines interactive learning and practical application to give you the tools you need to make a real impact in patient care! The Advanced Track is designed for clinicians who already have foundational POCUS proficiency and are ready to take their skills to the next level.

Choose the track that matches your ultrasound experience with either the Fundamentals Track or the Advanced Track and get the targeted training you need to advance your practice.

This educational course is approved as a Society of Hospital Medicine regional course for the POCUS Certificate of Completion, and targets hands-on scanning to a 3:1 learner to POCUS educator ratio from nationally recognized faculty to help you sharpen bedside diagnostic and management skills.

In order to receive SHM COC credit you must register for a 3 day in-person experience through one of the below tracks:

  1. Fundamentals Track + Foundational MSK and Procedures

  2. Advanced Track + either POCUS Education and Development or Guided Rapid Fire Scanning
