Do you have ideas for essential topics that should be part of the AIUM 2026 Annual Convention? Now is your chance!

Whether it's a topic you’re passionate about or an area you believe needs more attention or reflects current challenges, we want to hear from you. Your input helps the AIUM identify themes, plan relevant content, and ensure our program reflects your needs. We want to educate on emerging technologies and hold sessions that inspire innovation.

Submission Types

If you would like to submit multiple topic ideas, please complete a separate form for each submission. Each session should be designed to run up to 60 minutes.

You are welcome to submit more than one session, but each should be submitted separately as a stand-alone session.

Please note: While you are encouraged to suggest speakers, inclusion of those individuals in the final session is not guaranteed. All speaker selections and final session decisions are at the discretion of the Annual Convention Committee (ACC).

The following session formats are available.

Traditional Didactic

Didactic sessions offer a structured and formal teaching approach in which speakers play a central role in delivering content to the learners. The speaker presents the material in a lecture format, often using slides, images, or videos to support the verbal delivery. These sessions can also include an ultrasound demonstration and Q&A.

Specifics:

  • You may include up to 3 speakers, which may or may not include a moderator, if you have certain experts in mind for your session
  • A presentation title and a description are required.

Game

The gaming format is a learning session designed to engage participants, foster collaboration, and enhance information retention. Quiz-based games such as Kahoot, Jeopardy, and strategy games require learners to use critical thinking and decision-making skills to achieve objectives.

Specifics:

  • If a topic is accepted accepted as a game, the AIUM may reach out to the submitter for more information.
  • You may include up to 3 speakers/moderators, which may or may not include a moderator, if you have certain experts in mind for your session
  • A presentation title and a description are required.

Panel

The panel format is typically used to explore issues from multiple perspectives, providing a richer understanding of the subject matter. The moderator poses a series of questions to the panelists, guiding the conversation and ensuring a balanced contribution from each panelist. The discussion is usually more informal and often structured around key themes or subtopics. We are not asking speakers to give individual presentations in this format.

Specifics:

  • If a topic is accepted as part of a panel, the AIUM may reach out to the submitter for more information.
  • You may include up to 3 speakers/panelists, which may or may not include a moderator, if you have certain experts in mind for your session
  • A presentation title and a description are required.

Workshops

*subject to availability and planning needs

Note: This session will require more coordination, including equipment procurements, proctors, models/simulations, etc.

These sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to develop and refine their ultrasound scanning skills through direct practice on volunteer models, actual patients with pathology, or simulation. All scanning sessions will be under guided supervision.

Specifics:

  • If the topic is accepted as part of a workshop, the AIUM may reach out to the submitter to provide more information.
  • You may include up to 3 speakers, which may or may not include a moderator, if you have certain experts in mind for your session.
  • A presentation title and a description are required.

To simply submit only a topic idea for a session (not a full session proposal) complete the following fields:

  • Submitter Contact Information
  • Proposed topic title
  • Specialty area and/or relevant COP for the topic
  • Description / explanation of why this topic is needed

Review and Acceptance

All submissions completed by the deadline (June 30, 2025) will be shared with the Community of Practice (COP) leaders for review.  If your topic idea is well-liked, the relevant COP(s) will create the session and may contact you for further input on content and/or speakers/moderators (if provided).  The COP will review all topics between July 1 - August 5, 2025 and decide on the topics that will be excellent sessions for the annual convention. Once they have the selections, they will submit proposals to the ACC. Chosen topic ideas will be notified via email approximately by the end of September 2025.
