Compressional Sound Speed Imaging

The objectives of this session are to: (1) meet the anticipated need for information on speed of sound (SOS) imaging as bit is being tested in the transmission mode for Food and Drug Administration approval and being considered for use in commercial pulse echo systems; (2) explain the spatial frequencies and the variability and bias expected in transmission and reflection mode imaging and in their combinations as a function of available apertures; (3) explain the expected hardware and computational burdens; and (4) relay the state of the art in SOS imaging.
