Point-of-Care & General Medicine Ultrasound Course

July 15–16, 2023
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland, Oregon

Overview

Live demonstrations, simulations, and didactic lectures provide a comprehensive and in-depth look at how medical ultrasound can effectively be used in point-of-care and general medicine settings.

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) partnered with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to present the Point-of-Care & General Medicine Ultrasound Course.

Led by Kevin Piro, MD, and Christine Schutzer, RT, BS, RDMS, this year’s course will feature the latest ultrasound principles to help you:

  • Perform basic ultrasound functions to optimize an image and perform cardinal ultrasound motions;
  • Obtain a parasternal long axis and identify a pericardial effusion; and
  • Differentiate between A-line and B-line pattern in the lungs, and describe their clinical utility.

Upon completion, you will have learned well-founded grounding in the basic techniques, including focused cardiac, lung, abdomen, DVT, and procedural ultrasound, and that these techniques lay the foundation for a safe and effective ultrasound practice.
