Course Description
This course will present a systematic approach to the use of ultrasound in the evaluation of the female pelvis by integrating imaging and clinical findings in patients who present with pelvic pain, adnexal masses, infertility, and other complaints. Topics will include evaluation of the premenopausal and postmenopausal endometrium, uterine shape abnormalities, benign and malignant adnexal masses, endometriosis, the pelvic floor, and pregnancy of unknown or undesired location. Ultrasound-guided procedures and the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility will also be discussed, and presenters will highlight tips and pitfalls when using ultrasound to assess the nongravid female pelvis and early pregnancy.

Course Chair, Dr. Beryl Benacerraf, is a world-renowned radiologist with a 28-year academic affiliation with Harvard Medical School where she is currently clinical professor in obstetrics, gynecology, and radiology. She is the former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine and has has lectured at hundreds of courses at various educational institutions and professional societies around the world. Dr Benacerraf has authored 3 books, 33 chapters, and invited papers, numerous abstracts for international meetings, and more than 260 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
