October Is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month
October 4, 2012
This month is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM) and is a perfect opportunity for ultrasound professionals to increase the public's knowledge about medical ultrasound and its many uses in health care. There are a variety of resources to educate other practitioners, patients, and the public about this fast-growing technology. Some great ways to get involved are listed below.
  • Distribute diagnostic medical ultrasound fact sheets or patient pamphlets.

  • Hold an ultrasound appreciation day—take your staff to lunch, or present them with MUAM promotional items.

  • Offer a tour of your facility's ultrasound department to ultrasound students, other departments within your facility, or the general public.

  • Present a free lecture about diagnostic medical ultrasound.

Having promotional activities at your facility is an excellent way to create interest and will help get your message out. Water bottles, badge holders, grocery totes, and T-shirts are just a few promotional items offered by the AIUM. For more ideas and resources, download the free MUAM Information Kit.
