Continuing Medical Education (CME) Information
Accreditation Statement
The AIUM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. AIUM educational activities are planned and implemented in accordance with ACCME Essential Areas and Elements.

Designation Statement
The AIUM designates Ultrasound in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility for a maximum of 11.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Credits for Sonographers
Sonographers participating in AIUM educational activities may earn credits toward maintaining their professional certification from the following organizations:

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
The ARDMS accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
The AIUM is a Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism (RCEEM) for the ARRT. This educational activity is approved by the AIUM for ARRT Category A Credits.

Disclosure Policy
The AIUM is accredited by the ACCME to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to physicians. As such, the AIUM must ensure balance, independence, and scientific rigor in all of its sponsored activities. To this end, the AIUM requires anyone who is in a position to control the content of an educational activity, including AIUM officers, board members, committee members, faculty, and AIUM staff, to disclose all relevant financial interest(s) with any commercial interest(s). Financial interests may include such things as grants or research support, employment, consultancies, major stock holdings, membership in a speakers bureau, etc. The ACCME defines "relevant financial relationships" as financial relationships in any amount occurring within the past 12 months that create a conflict of interest (SCS2.1). The ACCME considers relationships of the person involved in the CME activity to include financial relationships of a spouse or partner.

Conflict of Interest Policy
The AIUM has instituted a process that goes beyond simple disclosure, with necessary interventions to resolve any conflict of interest before the educational activity begins. All individuals who are in a position to control the content of an educational activity, including AIUM officers, board members, committee members, faculty, and AIUM staff, are required to complete a disclosure form. Individuals who refuse to disclose their financial relationships will be disqualified from their role in the educational activity. The AIUM reviews these disclosure forms for potential conflicts of interest. All potential conflicts of interest are identified and managed by the chair of the CME Committee or designated AIUM official prior to the educational activity taking place. Should it be determined that a conflict of interest exists as a result of a financial relationship, the individual will be contacted by the AIUM, and methods to manage the conflict will be discussed. A form will be available to expedite this process. If the conflict is unable to be resolved, the individual will not be permitted to participate in the educational activity. Individuals involved in planning will be asked to recuse themselves from any portion of the planning where a bias might exist.

Alternative or "Off-Label" Product Policy
The AIUM requires anyone who is in a position to control the content of an educational activity, including AIUM officers, board members, committee members, faculty, and AIUM staff, to disclose their endorsement or use of any alternative or "off-label" product and/or treatment technologies. Individuals are advised that they must inform the audience if their educational material includes any discussion of off-label product use. AIUM educational activities provide a forum to educate and promote the dissemination of new ideas, but the AIUM does not necessarily endorse the findings or conclusions reported by presenters and authors. The intent of this disclosure is to provide learners with information to aid them in making their own judgments.

Documenting CME Credits
The AIUM provides onsite CME certificates to participants that have attended an AIUM educational activity. The AIUM does not submit credits to regulating bodies or certifying organizations on behalf of the participant. It is the participant's responsibility to submit proof of credits on his or her own behalf.
