2011 AIUM Annual Convention and Preconvention Program
April 14-17, 2011
New York Marriott Marquis Hotel
New York, New York
Registration is open for the 2011 AIUM Annual Convention and Preconvention Program, the only medical imaging conference in the United States dedicated to all disciplines of medical ultrasound, to be held April 14-17, 2011, in New York, New York. The 2011 convention program incorporates an unprecedented selection of scientific research and a breadth of innovative ultrasound-related educational opportunities with a focus on emerging applications and patient safety.
"The AIUM is the only conference where ultrasound professionals can hand pick their learning across several specialties," said AIUM Annual Convention Chair Jacques Abramowicz, MD. "The passion for medical ultrasound at this meeting is nothing short of inspiring."
Among the new features at the 2011 meeting is the highly anticipated hands-on Data Volume Manipulation Courses. The AIUM will host a full day of hands-on courses covering 3- and 4-dimensional data set manipulation in fetal echocardiography, obstetric ultrasound, general and abdominal ultrasound, and gynecologic ultrasound on Saturday, April 16. Participants will be introduced to laptop-based handling of 3- and 4-dimensional software and receive guided assistance to improve 3- and 4-dimensional ultrasound-based diagnostic skills during a 2-hour session.
Additional new features include emerging therapeutic ultrasound applications, an interactive course covering bioeffects and safety in the form of a mock medical malpractice suit, and the introduction of electronic scientific posters in obstetric ultrasound.
The 2011 AIUM Preconvention Program to be held on April 14, 2011, will precede the Annual Convention with courses that zero in on contemporary issues to give attendees a convenient way of earning up to 7 additional CME credits in New York. The 2011 AIUM Convention and Preconvention Program offers medical ultrasound professionals more than 30 CME credits in total.
The Exhibit Hall is a celebrated component of the convention every year, incorporating live scanning demonstrations and access to company experts. A diverse group of manufacturers and other ultrasound-related organizations, including several first-time exhibitors, have signed on to showcase cutting-edge technology, services, and products to AIUM convention attendees.
The AIUM will integrate social networking tools into the 2011 convention experience to extend the reach of information and activity. Convention-related messages, pictures, and videos will be posted on Twitter using hashtag #AIUM11 and on the AIUM's Facebook page. In addition, attendees are encouraged to connect with one another before, during, and after the meeting at aiumcommunities.org, the AIUM's professional networking site, which will also host noteworthy convention content.
